Mapendo which is Swahili for “love,” is farmed in 16 separate lots by 4,200 farmers, nearly 40% of which are women. It's grown in the African Great Lakes region, and has notes of brown sugar, honey, and citrus.
This coffee specifically comes from Mighty Peace Coffee, a Social Impact Importer, that seeks to prioritize the love of humanity, the health of the planet, and service to communities through their organization. Mighty Peace Coffee was born out of the Congolese peace movement; their mission involves working to improve living standards and ending the cycle of conflict and injustice in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
